In our latest real estate tech entrepreneur interview, we’re speaking with co-founder and CEO of Stilio, Daryl Glade. He’s another founder I met in New York a couple weeks ago.
Without further ado…
What do you do?
I am part of the incredible Stilio team that connects real estate agents with local real estate photographers. The Stilio platform network simply matches demand with supply. In our case, the demand is the need for professional listing photography and the supply is local professional real estate photographers.
As CEO and co-founder of Stilio I am involved with all aspects of our business. This includes exploring major strategic partnerships/integrations, communicating with both photographers and agents, investor relations, and managing our technical direction.
What problem does your product/service solve?
Prior to Stilio, only agents in major markets had easy and affordable access to professional photography. At the same time, individual photographers who wanted to shoot real estate had a hard time competing with large real estate photography companies. So there was a large segment of the country that wanted professional photography but were either underserved or unserved. And at the same time there were professional photographers by the thousands that wanted to shoot real estate but did not have access to technology, editing, and market exposure to operate their own business in this industry. Stilio solves these problems by applying the “platform network” business model to the real estate photography industry.
Now, any person listing a property for sale or rent anywhere across the country has easy access to numerous professional photographers. On Stilio.com they can compare photographer prices, products, and ratings while at the same time conducting secure payments, photo delivery, and communication with the photographers.
From the photographer’s perspective, Stilio offers a real estate photography “business-in-a-box.” The photographer can create a marketing site, use Stilio’s invoicing and billing features, access Stilio’s photo/video editing services, read the free education blog, and offer their clients free virtual tours. The best part is that the photographer only has to pay a fee when they get a booking, otherwise there is no charge to be part of the network.
What are you most excited about right now?
I am most excited about the great traction and feedback Stilio is getting. In a short period of time Stilio has created the country’s largest real estate specific photographer network. We are in nearly every state and are very close to our goal of having a photographer available for every address in the country. We feel that professional photography is now a requirement for listing a house for sale/rent and that people should have easy access to great photographers.
At the same time, I am excited about the feedback we are receiving from agents and photographers. Individuals with listings around the country have loved the ability to order photography from a single source. Photographers have also been excited about either starting their new real estate photography business or expanding their existing one.
What’s next for you?
Stilio has been presented with a number of strategic opportunities that we are currently reviewing. We are meeting with national real estate brokerages as well as startups that have new technology that could be integrated in our platform. However, we remain laser focused on generating mutually beneficial connections between photographers and agents on our platform.
What’s a cause you’re passionate about and why?
What I am most passionate about right now is being the best father/husband/citizen/CEO I can be. Right now this is where I believe I can have the biggest impact. By being a present and active father I will be helping to raise productive members of society. By being an active citizen I can benefit society by voting, donating time and money to charities, and getting involved with organizations that are important to me. By being the best CEO I can be I can positively influence the lives of Stilio’s employees and stakeholders across the country. These are the things I am most focused on these days.
