We just have to recap this one every year. I finally got to see a few innings of this game, rather than just refreshing the box score at work. The takeaways:
*Blake Snell can’t seem to work efficiently, always has about 88 pitches in the forth. Always seems to step in shit, no matter how good his stuff appears early on. This is life with Blake Snell, I’ve learned.
*Mookie Betts had a couple knocks, including this run-scoring single and he doubled off the base of the wall. He’s heating up.
*Andrew Benintendi had three knocks. He fits in the Boston two-hole perfectly.
*The Red Sox had a few tough spots to get out of, and they did (Ben Taylor got Logan Morrison to fly out with the bases loaded to end the seventh inning).
*By the time they handed it to Craig Kimbrel in the ninth; this game was over. He struck out the side. Not to jinx him, but he’s been unstoppable lately. Baseball might not have noticed.
The Red Sox are getting rolling a little bit. If they get David Price back in any kind of shape, they’re going to be the best team in the American League.
