The Indians signed a contract with Edwin Encarnacion that if; he puts butts in the seats, he will further fill his wallet.
Encarnacion will start earning attendance bonus at 2M Indians home attendance. Can make up to $1M/yr in crowd bonuses.

The attendance clause in the contract will be well worth it to the Indians. I mean, it blows my mind still that I was there in September of a World Series year against another contending (exciting) team and they drew 12,063.
It’s not a baseball town. It will never be a baseball town. It’s really not a great sports town – until there’s a serious winner. But this is a creative contract on the part of the Indians and I hope to see more of it’s prototype in the future.
