The Dodgers are re-signing Justin Turner, too

We’ve been writing a lot about the Dodgers lately, but we’ll be damned if they don’t make themselves interesting.

The Dodgers kept their star closer Kenley Jansen today with a five-year pact. And Ken Rosenthal reports that Justin Turner will also being going back to Chavez Ravine for a four-year, $64 million dollar deal.

This takes another key bat off the free-agent market. The Dodgers just keep right on rolling in the wake of the news that they’re in a financial crisis. Most of the other teams around baseball could only be so lucky.

Turner really has become a household name for the Dodgers, so it’s good that the California native is staying put. This probably ends up a contract that is a little hefty in terms of dollars, but it’s a thin market for bats that have some pop. It is what it is. And it’s not our money.
