The same team that at one point lost 20 of 25 games this season has now won all six of their postseason games. They’ve won the last three without their most valuable player, Corey Seager. And I’ll be frank: the Chicago Cubs at this point look beyond completely frustrated. The World Champions look like they know they’re done.
Calm Chris Taylor (helluva ballplayer) was the star of this game. After Andre Ethier – back from the dead as the longest tenured Dodger (12 years) – homered to tie the game 1-1 the inning after Kyle Schwarber went deep off Darvish. Taylor hit a home run off the batters eye in centerfield to make it 2-1. He would later drive in a key run on an RBI triple.
Yu Darvish was dominant again in the Dodgers 6-1 win. Everything is working right now. They’re reminding me a little bit of the Indians 2016 run in the style of their wins. Only they haven’t even lost. They’ve silenced all doubters. They’ve beat all comers. They can toy with the Cubs now.
Alex Wood can send the Dodgers back to the World Series tomorrow night when he takes the mound at Wrigley Field. That ‘1988’ pennant I studied a few times while at Dodger Stadium is fresh on my mind. I felt then; and feel again now that there will be one added to it.
