Tuesday was the monster day in the Winter Meetings thus far. This was ‘Chris Sale’ day. But some other stuff happened too and/or is being rumored to happen:
- Tyler Thornburg was acquired by Dave Dombrowski and the Red Sox for a couple of prospects at breakfast.
- More Chris Sale in Boston analysis: Boston appears to be the team to beat.
- The Nationals are back in the mix on Andrew McCutchen after losing out on Chris Sale.
- MLB says there is no Shoehi Otani exception.
- Paul Lukas feels like we do in the wake of the Under Armour deal being announced yesterday.
- Jarrod Dyson could be on the move.
- Despite being talked about to the Rockies all week, the Mariners are talking to Mark Trumbo.
- Wade Davis is going to be dealt soon. (Update: to the Cubs)
- Edwin Encarnacion is being talked about to the Rockies and Cardinals, and the talk of him to the Indians is losing steam. No one really thought he was going to Cleveland anyways, right?
- The Reds are still talking to the Rangers, but it’s not about Billy Hamilton. The names being discussed are Anthony DeScalfini and Dan Straily.
- The Red Sox added Mitch Moreland.
- The Los Angeles Dodgers are sniffing around The Toddfather. The sentiment is though that they seem refocused on Justin Turner.
- The Rays are meeting with Wilson Ramos soon.
- Dexter Fowler is still out there.
- The Nationals are interested in Jose Quintana.
- The Royals could be a trade partner with the Dodgers (Duffy, Cain, Moustakas?)
Still two days of the Winter Meetings left. This was the biggest day yet with the Sale trade going down. You just get the feeling some more trades are going to happen tomorrow with Andrew McCutchen at the center of things.
