Zach Britton closed out his 55th consecutive save today, breaking an American League record held previously by Tom “Flash” Gordon.
Britton has battled through arm troubles – several bouts to be exact – and hasn’t blown a save since September of 2015.
He sets his sights next on a record held by Eric Gagne which is 84. If all holds up for Britton, you would expect he be knocking at the door this time next year; possibly even in a different uniform.
