In this edition of Betting on Baseball, we give you a BIG DOG.
Typically, we use Dodger Stadium (especially if it’s a spot where the Dodgers are facing a right-handed hitter) to close out a big night betting bases. Tonight, for one of the first times in recent memory; we are going against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Chavez Ravine with our Tuesday night selection.
The Pirates opened at +159 and the Dodgers -177. Betting on baseball is so much about getting the best number. Once you determine a side is the side you want, it’s about getting it when it’s at it’s optimum value. Since people naturally love to just bet favorites and overs, this line has been pushed to -190. The Dodgers start rookie Julio Urias who has been very good; but is honestly probably overvalued here. Ivan Nova has the longer track record and has even been better in 2017. He got knocked around in Cincinnati but to be able to get him at a current +175 is incredible value in this spot. Dodger Stadium is not the hitters park that Great American is; so Nova should be able to keep it in the yard. The Pirates got a look at a hot southpaw last night in Alex Wood.
The Dodgers are very good at home against right-handed pitching, but I love a team off a drubbing. And last night, the Pirates got worked. Tonight’s pick is Pittsburgh Pirates +175. Play it with confidence.

*The total has gone UNDER in 15 of Pittsburgh’s last 22 games on the road
*Pittsburgh is 4-2 SU in their last 6 games when playing on the road against LA Dodgers
