Yankees post the win of the year in the Bronx

I was supposed to be at this game today in the sun, in the Bronx. I was going to take the train in from Spring Lake, New Jersey and enjoy some Yankees baseball. I didn’t make it.

That said, I felt in my heart of hearts that the Yankees were due for some magic today. They got a great start from Luis Severino. He made one mistake in the top of the first, allowing a three-run homer to Domingo Santana but was spotless the rest of the day and struck out ten hitters in true Severino fashion. I knew if he did that the rest of the day the Yankees would have a shot. And I felt that the Yankees would have the sun shine upon them on this day.

And the biggest win of the year really had little to do with Aaron Judge. He singled in this game and walked, but struck out in the 8th with the Yankees trailing 3-2.

This day belonged to baseball’s newest Clint, Clint Frazier. He of lightning bat speed hit a triple earlier in the game to cut the deficit to just a run. And in the bottom of the ninth, he hit a big boy home run off Corey Knebel; a three-run shot for his first career homer to walk off the Brewers and win the game 5-3.

It should be noted that shaky Dellin Betances recorded a scoreless 8th, and shaky Aroldis Chapman a scoreless ninth frame in earning the victory.

Incredible. God bless the Yankees.
